Ethiopian Sidama coffee, when roasted, often presents a profile characterized by bright acidity, fruity and floral notes, and a medium body. According to some roasters, it can also exhibit flavors of blueberry, milk chocolate, and red berries, with hints of apricot, black tea, caramel, and other nuanced notes. The natural (dry) process, common in Sidama, contributes to its sweetness and vibrant flavors.

  Sidama coffee often achieves a cupping score of 85 or higher, indicating high quality and a specialty-grade status.

  
  

  When cupped, Sidama coffee can display a bright, berry-like acidity, a balanced and velvety body, and a sweet aftertaste. 

  
  

  A medium-light to medium roast is often preferred to highlight the coffee's fruity and floral characteristics. 

   

  • Fruity: Blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, and stone fruit notes are commonly associated with Sidama. 
  • Floral: Jasmine and orange blossom are often mentioned in tasting notes. 
  • Sweet: Caramel, honey, and brown sugar sweetness are common, sometimes with hints of chocolate. 
  • Other: Hints of black tea, lemon, may also be present.
